Welcome to my first Blog!!!

I feel like I should apologize in advance for my elementary knowledge about blogging.  This is my first blog I have ever written, and I would like to share my passion about jewelry, color and design.
I opened a shop at Etsy just over a year ago now :http://www.informalelegance.etsy.com/, and absolutely love it!  It has been a great experience.

I have always had a love for creating tangible ‘things’. My background includes a degree in Fine Arts, and I have always felt a desire to create jewelry.

Growing up, I found I had an allergy to nickel which I discovered isn’t that uncommon. It was difficult to find jewelry that was affordable or safe to wear. My options were either shopping at high jewelry stores that were way to expensive and dressy, or finding fun, casual jewelry that were made from cheap materials, guaranteeing me a rash.
Since I had such a hard time finding jewelry that I could safely wear, I started becoming my own jewelry designer.  This is when I realized the that I had limitless design options.  No longer was I limited to store designs, but I could really make what I would ideally want to buy myself.  After receiving many compliments on my jewelry, I realized that there is a market for my jewelry.  I wasn't the only one with sensitive skin who wants to see more design options than what is currently offered in stores.
It is also great to see people wanting to buy things that are handmade with love and with creative, original ideas.  So to all of you who shop at Etsy, we thank you for valuing the importance of handcrafted items!

I love being able to not only create something that I can wear, but also something that is feminine, has a lot of character, while still being soft and delicate. I use a lot of natural colors/materials to create sophisticated jewelry, hence INFORMAL ELEGANCE. A lot of the materials I work with are natural and may vary slightly in color and shape due to their inherent qualities. This also gives them personality, since perfection doesn’t have much character.
The findings (closures, earwires, etc.) are always sterling silver, unless marked otherwise. I hope you enjoy my shop and stop by again, as I’m looking forward to converting fresh ideas into a larger jewelry selection.

I also feature a lot of childrens jewelry in my shop, as I find that it is difficult to find 'PRETTY' jewelry for them.  It is great for anyone with nickel allergies, and has colorful and fun designs.

Hopefully this was a helpful introduction to who I am :)

I wish anyone who took the time to read this a wonderful day!!!
